Seviour Insurance was established in October 1995 by its owner Stewart Seviour in a very small office in Plaza Flamingo, Benalmádena Costa on Spain's Costa del Sol. With a background as a Life and General Branch District Agent with Pearl Insurance in Bath (Somerset), he and his Spanish wife were keen to live and work in her native country, and in May 1991 Stewart was succesful in obtaining a position with Royal Insurance at their Málaga Branch as Commercial Inspector to the network of expatriate agents all along the Costa del Sol. Being on "the other side of the fence" gave him invaluable experience and insight of the local community, its needs, problems and complaints!

When the opportunity arose, Stewart decided to alter his professional path by forming his own business as an insurance agent himself. Armed with the knowledge amassed over several years attending to and understanding the expatriate market in Spain, together with the array of basic tools which any new enterprise must be content to begin with, he was able to steadily grow and move into larger premises in the same Plaza in December 2000.

After completing her studies in Málaga University, daughter Louise joined him in 1998 as full-time Office Manager and Head of Claims Handling.

The next major development occured in October 2003 when son Mark inaugurated the company´s second office after finishing his university career as a translator/interpreter. Geared to the needs of the growing number of expatriates moving away from the coast to live in the rural areas of Andalusia, this second office is situated in Alhaurin el Grande, a beautiful town in the heart of the Guadalhorce Valley, ideally located for persons living in the areas of Alhaurin, Coin, Cartama, Alora, Pizarra, etc.

Many exciting developments will be taking place in the near future as Seviour Insurance approaches its 10th anniversary, and these include a move into new premises towards the end of July 2004 (still in Plaza Flamingo!), a brand new system which should be in operation as from July/August which will allow instant production of policies, changes of vehicles etc., and a credit card facility.

With its multi-lingual staff, Seviour Insurance is able to offer the best products and competitive quotations to expatriate and Spanish clients alike, and will continue to meet the insurance needs of both loyal existing and new customers.
